Children's Book Week at Springwood Library

This is the Display Board in the children's area of Springwood Library. it covers the end wall in our children's section and is a great spot to advertise upcoming events. "Fuel your mind" was the theme for Book Week this year so we created a monster to eat up the words and get the cogs of the brain turning.

Week 3

Learning about Flickr has been both enjoyable and frustrating. Setting up an account, uploading photos and editing them was was pretty straightforward and fun but editing the photo on my dashboard is proving a challenge yet to be conquered. I am going to try adding a photo to my blog next so if there is a photo above this entry i have succeeded and it will be on to Week 4 - full steam ahead.

Getting Started (again)

Something weird happened to my first attempt at a blog and I had no idea how to fix it so i have tossed it into the nearest black hole and am starting afresh - Blogging 101 is obviously not going to be a walk in the park for me!

Like everyone in the library world i enthusiastically embraced the internet in the workplace and find it hard now to imagine life without it - so much information available so quickly - but i have been much slower to investigate blogging. I know what a blog is and have even contributed once or twice to one or two, but up till now had no idea how to create one and indeed no desire to do so. Starting this learning program is changing my mind. Looking at all sorts of blogs and beginning to understand how it all works, it's easy to see the value of this technology in both a learning and social context - sharing information and ideas so easily. I'm not sure if I will ever be a diligent blogger at work - it's hard to find the time and the inspiration to sit down and write up posts and comments ( i've been mulling over and fiddling with this one for ages!) - or a mad keen social blogger but you never know; stranger things have happened and pigs might fly.
That's it for now, i have to save some cliches for next time.
